Included Parts
-
Engine Assembly: Complete L3-VDT long-block with DISI intake manifold, fuel rail, and high-pressure injectors
-
Turbo System: Factory-matched K04 turbocharger and exhaust manifold
-
Ancillaries: Alternator, power steering pump, A/C compressor, and ignition coils
-
Sensors: Complete engine sensor suite (MAFS, O2, Crank, and Cam sensors)
Installation & Maintenance Notes
-
HPFP (Critical): The L3-VDT engine is highly sensitive to fuel pressure. Before initial startup, we strongly recommend checking the health of your High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP). For performance builds, an upgraded HPFP internal kit is highly recommended to prevent lean conditions.
-
Oil Recommendation: Due to the heat generated by the turbo and DISI system, it is mandatory to use high-quality 5W-30 or 5W-40 full-synthetic oil and change it at tighter intervals (3,000 miles) to prevent oil sludge and turbo bearing failure.
-
Turbo Care: Always allow the engine to idle for 30–60 seconds after hard driving to ensure the turbocharger internals are properly lubricated and cooled before shutdown.
-
Cooling: Ensure the intercooler system is clean and free of oil blow-by. We recommend a fresh coolant flush using genuine Mazda FL-22 long-life coolant to protect the aluminum block and turbo cooling jacket.
